Three more people have been arrested in relation to the case of a missing Picayune man.
The case of Willie Jones began on July 6, when he did not return home and family reported him as missing.
On July 17, two people of interest in the case, 24-year-old Dustin Gray and his wife 21-year-old Erica Gray, were arrested in Colorado for warrants for possession of stolen firearms and investigated for their alleged involvement in the disappearance of 28-year-old Willie Jones. That investigation led to the discovery of human remains on hunting property along Texas Flat Road the same day and resulted in the arrest of 18-year-old Austin Brookshire of Rankin County on a warrant for murder. The affidavit outlines a number of details in the case.
The remains found on the hunting property are awaiting positive identification by the State Medical Examiners office. Pearl River County Coroner Derek Turnage said on Saturday that it might be as long as two weeks before the results are available.
Tuesday, Brookshire attended his initial appearance in Pearl River County Justice Court and was denied bond by Justice Court Judge Ben Brelend.
Monday, a juvenile suspect was arrested on a warrant for accessory after the fact of murder in the same case, said Maj. Marc Ogden with the Pearl River County Sheriff’s Department. Tuesday afternoon, it was announced that Dustin Gray was served with a warrant for first degree murder in relation to the Willie Jones case and his wife Erica Gray was served with a warrant for accessory after the fact of murder. Dustin and Erica Gray are still being held in Colorado and will be extradited at a later date, Ogden said.
