Kenny said his services are needed in this area due to the prevalence of debilitating diseases that at times lead to the amputation of limbs, such as diabetes.

When a patient comes through his door, he works with them to cast and manufacture custom-made prosthesis in the Picayune location. Kenny said he has all the equipment needed to not only create the new limb, but provide rehabilitative services to help the patient learn to use their new prosthesis effectively.

“The main thing is to eliminate pain,” Kenny said.

Kenny said he puts effort into ensuring that each prosthesis fits as it should, which eliminates pain. Most amputees have been dealing with pain for some time, and as such expect a synthetic limb to continue that trend. But if the prosthesis fits and is used correctly, then there should not be any pain, Kenny said.

A new amputee could have a new limb in a short while, depending on their healing time. Kenny said once he has all the measurements he needs, he could have the order complete between a week to a month, depending on the complexity of the person’s needs.

Kenny said he is skilled in making prosthetic limbs that utilize motors and robotic components to best mimic human movement, such as for knees and hands.

Kenny provides his services across the Pine Belt area, so his services are available by appointment only.

He also works with vascular, orthopedic, internal medicine, skilled nursing and pediatric medical professionals to provide his services.  And since prosthetics require regular maintenance, he provides those services as well.

Southern Prosthetic Care accepts Medicaid, Medicare, Blue Cross Blue Shield and most any other type of insurance.

The business is located at 4201 Highway 11 N., Suite D and Kenny can be reached by calling 769-242-2555.
