Along West Canal Street, a monogramming business took residence in their newest location.
Bags and Bows, staffed by a mother and daughter, provides monogramming services for the Picayune area.
Owner Gwen McCrory has been interested in sewing as long as she’s been alive. About eight years ago she became interested in monogramming, purchasing her first machine in May of 2006 and operating out of several locations around town.
Last week the business was located within Glass Porch on West Canal in Picayune, but over the weekend she moved to her new location just down the street at 207 W. Canal St.
Her daughter, Vanessa McCrory, joined the business when she returned home in July, adding her hand made hair bows to the inventory. Vanessa McCrory said she can make a bow for any outfit in less than 10 minutes. She also has a wide selection of bows already made, from solid colors to sequined items. Bows can also be monogrammed for a personalized touch.
The store offers children’s clothing, bags and, of course, personalized monogramming. Items can be monogrammed in about 15 minutes while customers wait. Monogramming is offered for the items sold in the store, and also for products the customer brings in.
The mother/daughter team is gearing up for the busy season, the holidays, so there are no plans to expand at this point.
In addition to the two McCrorys, the business also employs Amber Burge as their social media expert and bookkeeper.
Gwen McCrory said her favorite part of owning the business is taking care of her customers.
“I like dealing with the public,” Gwen McCrory said.
The business is open Monday through Thursday from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m., Friday from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Saturday from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Bags and Bows is closed on Sunday.
Staff can be reached by calling 601-215-1979.
