A growing business needs additional staff to keep up with the increasing number of customers.
The same is true for a place of business that provides care to patients. That is why Dr. Debbie Moore of Moore Chiropractic Clinic added Dr. Candice Polk to the staff in April of this year.
A doctorate graduate of Life University in Atlanta, Ga., Polk is a certified and licensed chiropractor. She also has a degree in biology from Mississippi State.
Polk will help Moore keep up with the growing number of patients, said Moore.
While she’s always had an interest in working in the health field, it was while running track in college that she met a chiropractor who prompted Polk to become interested in the field.
Business is growing so much that Moore has rented out another location on Main Street in Picayune to hold her CPR classes. Other services offered at Moore Chiropractic include acupuncture, therapy and rehabilitation and basic life support classes for health care providers.
Next year will be the tenth year Moore’s business has been operating in Picayune. Moore said she decided to become a chiropractor so she could help people without dealing with blood. Moore said she also likes that her business can help people heal through the natural process of chiropractic medicine, which also does not involve drugs.
She said by putting the body back in its natural state, chiropractic medicine helps the body heal itself. So, for example, if someone has suffered a broken bone, it should only take about six weeks to heal, or if someone is dealing with a cold it should be overcome by the immune system in about three days. Moore said that if it’s taking longer for ailments to heal, then chiropractic medicine can help expedite the process. By aligning the body, a person’s immune system will work properly, Moore said.
“A lot of people think they should only come to the chiropractor when their back hurts, but they should do it regularly,” Moore said.
Those with active lifestyles, such as athletes, may find they need an adjustment more often, Moore said.
People with sedentary lifestyles should also consider treatment, since movement can help alleviate the pain of arthritis, she said.
Moore Chiropractic’s main office is located at 6682 Highway 11 N. Suite 103.
