Burnt Bridge Road to close today

A portion of Burnt Bridge Road will close today as part of a project to clear underbrush from the Daniel Tabberer Memorial Boat Launch.
Steve Seal with Friends of Boley said the project is required due to large amounts of illegal dumping, vandalism and other illegal activity taking place at the boat launch.
The contractor performing the work is Southern Vegetation Management. Winston Whitfield, owner of the contracting company clearing the trees from the area, anticipates having to close the road this afternoon, May 20. He said the road closure will be required for the safety of the motoring public since the forestry mulching head being used on a track hoe to clear the area throws debris for quite a distance. The road closure will last about two hours.
He anticipates the entire area will be cleared by Thursday morning.
Seal said another project is in the works for the boat launch to install concrete pads with picnic tables to make the area a nice place for families to gather. It will be funded by the Pearl River County Board of Supervisors.
