Investigators with the Pearl River County Sheriff’s Department are looking into another instance of a business window being shot out by what is suspected to be a person wielding a high powered BB gun or pellet rifle.
Maj. Marc Ogden said that the most recent incident was called into the department at about 10 a.m. Tuesday. The callers reported that the front glass door to Total 24 Fitness, located at 6941 Highway 11, had been shot.
Investigators arrived and determined that the glass was shot out by a high powered BB gun or pellet rifle. The most recent incident is suspected to be related to several instances where windows to businesses had been shot by a similar weapon.
The previous incidents include a window of the Carriere location of Family Dollar being shot on March 25, and an empty storefront located at 4100 Highway 11 in Picayune later that same week.
Witnesses of the Family Dollar incident described a small two-door vehicle with dull black paint in the area just before the shot was fired.
Ogden is asking for the public’s help in identifying the person or persons responsible by calling Mississippi Coast Crime Stoppers at 1-877-787-5898. Tips can be made anonymously and information that leads to a felony arrest or grand jury indictment could be eligible for a monetary reward, the Mississippi Coast Crime Stoppers states.
