A man was found deceased in his vehicle in a parking lot near a local bank Sunday just after noon.

Picayune Police Department Assistant Chief Dustin Moeller said officers got a call from a concerned citizen that an elderly man was hunched over the steering wheel of a vehicle in a parking lot located at 121 East Canal Street at 12:06 p.m. that day.

Officers arrived to find the man was deceased. Investigation into the case determined he passed away sometime during the night. He was later identified as 81-year-old Allen Lowrie of Picayune.

Currently his cause of death appears to be due to natural causes, but his remains have been sent to the Mississippi State Crime Lab for an autopsy. Moeller said that even though his cause of death appears to be due to natural causes the autopsy was requested due to information obtained in the investigation. Results from the autopsy are expected to be available by next week.
