Motorists who travel Highway 11 north to Poplarville will soon have a smoother commute.
Work is currently underway from the intersection of Savannah Millard Road north to Poplarville.
Katelyn Roh, a public affairs officer with the Mississippi Department of Transportation said via email that the $1.8 million project was awarded to Barriere Construction Company, LLC.
The project will provide resurfacing to the road, along with some safety improvements. Those safety improvements will include wider shoulders, more markings on the pavement where the road has sharp curves, more signs and brush trimming to improve the distance motorists can see down the road.
The project is underway and is projected to be complete by sometime next month.
