A Picayune man died as a result of injuries sustained in a one vehicle collision that occurred on Palestine Road on Aug. 29.
Pearl River County Sheriff’s Department Chief Deputy Shane Tucker said the collision was called in that day at 4:50 p.m. and occurred on Palestine Road near the intersection of Buckley Pubs Road.
Deputies responded to find that an eastbound 2012 Chevrolet Silverado driven by 30-year-old Kelvis Bowens of 501 East Third Street, Picayune, initially left the road on the right side, before he over corrected, crossed both lanes of traffic and left the road on the left hand side, Tucker said.
After leaving the road, Bowens’ vehicle collided with a mailbox, telephone pole and then a tree where the vehicle came to rest.
Tucker said Bowens was pronounced at the scene. No other vehicles were involved in the incident.
