Robert “Lamont” Carr and his son Josh Carr are continuing the family tradition of providing insurance services to the Pearl River County area.

Robert Carr said he has been working at Carr Insurance Agency LLC since 1997, Josh joined the staff in 2003. Both father and son said they enjoy working in insurance because it gives them an opportunity to give back to the community.

Carr Insurance Agency LLC has been operating in the area since 1972, and prior to 2005 the business also offered real estate services. But when the founding member of the business and Robert’s father, Verne Carr, retired in February of 2005, there was no one left in the office with a real estate license, so the business switched to focusing solely on insurance.

Robert said that the business offers insurance for “anything you can drive or ride.” The only policies Carr Insurance Agency does not offer are life and health.

The staff at Carr Insurance Agency pride themselves on going above and beyond for their customers. From picking up stranded motorists to give them a ride home when a collision investigation temporarily prevents the use of their vehicle, to helping customers make doctor’s appointments when their vehicle is out of commission, Robert said he and his son “go overboard to help people.”

Carr Insurance Agency is located at 601 Highway 11 N. Suite G in Picayune and can be reached by calling 601-798-7472 during the operating hours of Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday and Friday from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. and on Thursday from 9 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Robert said he will also open the business on Saturdays by appointment.

Other than the father and son team, the business employs one person part time.
