Rev. Billy Ray Whitfield, 65, of McNeill, MS, transitioned this life on Friday, May 31, 2019 at Ochsner Medical Center in Slidell, LA, embraced by his loving family.

The son of Mrs. Jurline Whitfield Washington of Picayune, MS, he was born January 31, 1954 in Bassfield, MS.

He is survived by his mother; three daughters, Jessica Whitfield Pittman (Robert) and Alicia Whitfield, both of McNeill, and Steffani Gaines Graham (Louis) of Derby, MS; sister, Elizabeth McGill (Demond) of Picayune; five brothers, J.C. Holloway, Tommy Holloway, Jr., McArthur Washington, James Holloway, all of Picayune, and Andra Dawson (Jacqualine) of Kountze, TX; a special uncle, Jerry Wayne Jones of Carriere; and was loved by a host of uncles, aunts, nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

He is preceded in death by his maternal grandmother, Helen Bethea Jefferson.

Billy was a member of Little Zion Travelers Baptist Church of McNeill. He became an ordained minister in 1988, under the leadership of the late Rev. Alex Holloway, Jr. He loved God and his family.

Visitation will be held on Friday, June 7, 2019 from 1:00-2:00 pm, with funeral services following at 2:00 pm, at Trinity Outreach Ministries, 502 Jarrell St., Picayune. The service will be officiated by Pastor Carl Flowers.
