Only three slots remain for the Crosby Arboretum’s inaugural open mic night, to be held on May 11 at the Pinecote Pavilion.
Arboretum Director Pat Drackett said that so far 60 people have reserved a table for the event to watch their loved ones perform during the event, which will take place from 6 to 9 p.m. that evening.
She said the event is free and open to the public, but donations will be accepted. It will offer not only live music, but also coffee, tea, and baked treats.
Any musician who would like to book one of the remaining spots can call 601-798-2311. Slots are for 15 minutes, which is enough for about three songs, Drackett said.
Audience members who would like to book a seat with a table will also want to RSVP.
Drackett said that some equipment will already be set up for performers to use, such as a microphone and equipment to hook a guitar to.
She said the aim of the event is not only to get people to visit the Arboretum, but also allow those visitors to see the Pinecote Pavilion lit up at night. The only other night time event offered at the Arboretum is Bug Fest.
Drackett said her aim is to offer the event regularly, possibly in the fall and spring.
The Arboretum is located at 370 Ridge Rd., Picayune.
