Laura Junkin Blankenstein Rushing, age 95, departed this world on January 26, 2019. She was born on October 7, 1923 in Natchez, MS to Cliffton William Blankenstein and Laura Junkin Blankenstein.

Graveside Memorial Services will be held Saturday, February 16, 2019, at 11:00 am at New Palestine Cemetery, 2336 Palestine Road, Picayune, MS 39466.

Burial will be in New Palestine Cemetery under the direction of McDonald Funeral Home.

Douglas Baughan (her granddaughter, Joanna’s husband) will officiate the service.

A native of Natchez, MS, she was a member of First Presbyterian Church in Natchez, but while living here, went to First Baptist Church in Picayune.

She was preceded in death by her parents, William Cliffton Blankenstein and Laura Junkin Blankenstein; her husband of 61 years, Zelan Zack Rushing; and her brothers, William Cliffton Bond, Frank Edward Blankenstein; and her sister, Frances Elizabeth Parker.

Left to cherish her memory are her daughter, Frankie (Firrel D., Jr. ) Rushing Carr; and her son, David William (Beverly) Rushing; 7 grandchildren, Laurie (Jeff) Tawney of MD., Firrel Carr, III of FL., Kristina (Greg) Hitchcock of MD., Joanna (Douglas) Baughan of MD., David (Robin) Rushing of LA., Melissa (Kevin) Adams of LA., and Christopher (Rachel) Rushing of LA.; 21 great grandchildren; 3 great great grandchildren; her sister, Carolyn Stuart of AL.; and her sister-in-law, Jimmie Nell Bond of CA.
