Crash on Burnt Bridge Road results in fatalities

A one vehicle accident along Burnt Bridge Road resulted in the death of two people in the vehicle.

Capt. Joe Quave with the Pearl River County Sheriff’s Department said the accident was called in Monday evening at 6:36 and occurred along Burnt Bridge Road near the intersection of Ulman Stockstill Road.

Investigation into the accident determined that the driver of the vehicle, left the right side of the road before overcorrecting, causing the vehicle to overturn several times, ejecting the driver.

Quave said that the driver and a juvenile suffered fatal injuries as a result. Both the driver and juvenile were not wearing a seatbelt at the time of the accident, Quave said.

Pearl River County Coroner Derek Turnage identified the two who died as 38-year-old Angelic Lee and 13-year-old Joseph Lajoie, both of Picayune.

Turnage listed their causes of death as being due to injuries suffered as result of being ejected from the vehicle during the roll over.

A 16-year-old juvenile was also in the vehicle at the time of the accident. The juvenile was wearing a seatbelt and suffered minor injuries, Quave said.
