Funeral Services for Betty Hegwood Pope, age 85, of Hide-a-Way Lake, MS, who passed away Tuesday, January 1, 2019, will be held Friday, January 4, 2019, at 11:00 am at Roseland Park Baptist Church.
Visitation will be Friday, January 4, 2019 from 10:00 am until 11:00 am at Roseland Park Baptist Church.
Burial will be Friday, January 4, 2019 at 3:00 pm in Magee City Cemetery, Magee, MS under the direction of McDonald Funeral Home.
Rev. Dan Young will officiate the service.
A native of Mize, MS, she was a Homemaker and a member of Roseland Park Baptist Church. Betty will be remembered by all who knew her as a loving, God-fearing woman characterized by Proverbs 31- “The heart of her husband trusts in her, she does him good all the days of her life; strength and honor are her clothing; she opens her mouth with wisdom, kindness is on her tongue. She watches over the ways of her household; her children rise up and call her blessed; her husband also praises her; many daughters have done well, but you excel them all.”
She was preceded in death by her parents, Dewey Hegwood and Wessie Glisson Hegwood; her brothers, I.M. Hegwood and H.W. Hegwood; and her sisters, Inita Martin and Letty Pearl Howell.
Left to cherish her memory are her loving husband of 68 years, James C. Pope, Sr.; her children, Debra (Allen) Brunson and James C. (Kathy) Pope, Jr.; 8 Grandchildren, Jamie (Keeno) Keene, Amy (Scott) Adler, Katie (Mark) Callies, Ashley (Matt) Morris, Sidney (Kaitlyn) Brunson, Robert Brunson, Aaron Brunson, and Jon Brunson; 8 Great Grandchildren; her sister, Barbara Cochran; and numerous nieces, nephews, and great nieces and nephews.
