Animal Advocates of Pearl River County is teaming up with For Bullies Sake to hold a fundraiser event this weekend.
Lauren Fitts, president of Animal Advocates of Pearl River County, said the funds raised will help defer the cost of medical expenses for several animals currently in foster care.
Those include a donkey that was confiscated by the county, and turned over to a foster, who needed medical attention and is suspected to need dental care soon in addition to gelding.
A boxer currently being cared for by a foster underwent some medical procedures to remove a growth on his eyelid and also received heartworm treatment. Fitts said the medical bills for the canine totaled $1,000, of which $400 is still owed to the veterinarian.
The garage sale will be held on Oct. 5 and 6 from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. at 43 C.G. Smith Rd., Picayune.
Items for sale include clothing, baby items, home decor, DVDs, Halloween costumes for dogs and children’s toys.
