Several suspects were arrested for drug related offenses by the Pearl River County Sheriff’s Department.
On July 24, narcotics detectives served a warrant at the home of Paula Jackson, 50, of 28 Leona Smith Rd., McNeill for six counts of sale of a controlled substance and six counts of conspiracy to sell a controlled substance, said Sheriff David Allison.
That arrest was conducted as the result of several years of investigation into allegations made by community members that drug activity was occurring at the home. Allison said that earlier the same day, her husband, Joey Jackson, 54, was picked up during a routine traffic stop for disregard of a traffic device. During that stop the deputies determined he had an outstanding warrant for driving while license suspended and a warrant for conspiracy to sell a controlled substance in relation to the same community complaints. Allison said that since the deputies picked up Joey Jackson, investigators picked up Paula Jackson the same day.
Allison said the investigation showed that the couple was allegedly selling prescription medication.
Another case worked on Aug. 5 involved a patrolling deputy noticing a Honda Accord parked in the 200 block of Whitesand Road in a suspicious location. When deputies stopped to see if the occupants in the vehicle were all right, a man later identified as 33-year-old Randy Lee Brown, of 286 Whitesand Rd., fled from the rear passenger side of the vehicle into the woods. Deputies continued toward the vehicle and found two more occupants inside, the driver, 31-year-old Amanda Teague of 52 Sandy Creek Lane, Lumberton and a second passenger, 32-year-old Bruce Ahrens of 60414 Lilac Dr., Lacombe, La. While speaking with the occupants, the deputies noticed the odor of marijuana coming from the vehicle, Allison said. Both occupants were asked to exit the vehicle and a subsequent search located a large amount of methamphetamine and marijuana, digital scales, $2,328 in cash, in the rear of the vehicle where Brown was sitting, and a small amount of marijuana and a glass pipe that appeared to have residue from methamphetamine in the front of the vehicle, Allison said. The contraband and cash was seized, and Teague was arrested for DUI, possession of paraphernalia, misdemeanor possession of a controlled substance, Allison said. Ahrens was arrested for misdemeanor possession of marijuana.
Brown is currently wanted by the Sheriff’s Department for possession of methamphetamine with intent to distribute and possession of marijuana with intent to distribute, Allison said.
Anyone with knowledge of his whereabouts is asked to call 601-798-3050.
