During Monday’s Pearl River County Board of Supervisors meeting, county engineer Les Dungan updated the Board concerning the countywide paving project.

Before he provided that update, the Board approved Dungan’s request to pay Huey P. Stockstill LLC $687,203 as a second installment for the work.

During discussion of the project, Dungan informed the Board that work has been completed, but there are a few minor repairs that need to be addressed.

He said that although an $86,000 change order was added to the original estimate of $854,000, the final cost of the project came in at $863,000. Additional expenses to address the minor repairs are not expected, he said.

Dungan also provided the Board with cost estimates to stripe the roads that were repaired during the project.

According to previous coverage, striping the roads makes them safer.

The Board approved a request to award striping of the roads to Lane Line LLC for a total cost of $28,232.

Striping will take place on Barth Road, Oak Hill Road, Derby White Sand Road, Palestine Road and Henleyfield McNeill Road, Dungan said.

Updating the Board about bridge repairs across the county, Dungan said the bridge on Harry Sones Road is expected to be completed in the next few weeks and contractors are currently driving pilings on the bridge.
