Investigators with the Pearl River County Sheriff’s Department arrested a Poplarville man Thursday night on two counts of sexual battery and one count of lustful touching.
Chief Investigator Marc Ogden said the crimes were committed against two female victims, both younger than 12.
A complaint about the child abuse was provided to the Pearl River County Sheriff’s Department on July 26. Subsequent investigation and interviews gathered enough evidence to arrest 60-year-old Lavon Gipson, of 22 HM Gipson Rd., Poplarville Thursday at about 9 p.m., Ogden said.
During his bond hearing before Judge John Mark Mitchell, Gipson was not given a bond, Ogden said.
As the investigation continues, Gipson could face additional charges for acts against additional victims, Ogden said.
