Special Olympics run set for Thursday

A run will be held to support the Special Olympics in Pearl River County Thursday in Picayune.

Capt. James Bolton with the Picayune Police Department said the run will take place Thursday starting at 1 p.m. at the intersection of Main Street and Fifth Avenue.

All law enforcement officers and community members willing to participate are invited to join in the fun.

After the run starts at Main and Fifth, the route will then head west on Fifth in front of Picayune Memorial High School before turning onto Kirkwood Street and head toward Goodyear Boulevard before ending in front of Crosby Commons.

Bolton said the route is less than a mile. There is no cost to participate in the run. Bolton said it is an event to show support for the Special Olympics.
