The man involved in a pedestrian versus vehicle accident Thursday morning in the Nicholson area died as a result of his injuries.

Pearl River County Coroner Derek Turnage said that the man was identified as W.T. Martin, 31, of Picayune.

Mississippi Highway Patrol Public Information Officer Chase Elkins said Martin was pronounced Thursday night.

Turnage listed his cause of death as being due to blunt force trauma and a head injury sustained when he was struck by a vehicle.

No charges will be filed against the driver of the vehicle that struck Martin because an investigation did not find negligence on her part, Elkins said.

According to previous coverage, the accident occurred early Thursday morning just after midnight. 

Martin was pushing a bicycle down Highway 11 in the middle of the road when he was struck by a southbound Chevrolet Trailblazer. Elkins said that Martin was in the middle of the road at the time of the accident and that it was dark at the time.
