Suspected straight line winds caused minor damage to two buildings on Highway 11 in Carriere during Saturday’s storm.

Damage from the storm included half of the sign at Coco’s restaurant being blown down, the awning on the front of the First Southern Bank was blown into trees behind a house across Old Highway 11 and sections of a fence in front of that same house were knocked over.

Pearl River County Emergency Management Director Danny Manley said that according to visual assessments the damage was caused by straight line winds.

No other damage was reported in the county as a result of the storm.

Minor damage to a shed and tree limbs were also reported in the Dove Ridge subdivision, Manley said.

The largest damage Manley said he found was roof damage at Stevens Packing near Poplarville. Manley said an official investigation will take place to determine what caused the roof damage.
