Heritage Christian Academy is hosting a play and silent auction to benefit the Academy.
Parents and community members are invited to attend the event, to be held Friday, April 27 at the First Baptist Church of Picayune sanctuary from 5:30 p.m. Tickets are $10, which will cover admission to the play and the art show, said Sandy McCardle, director of Heritage Christian Academy.
The play is called “The Enchanted Book Shop,” and is a mystery where fictional characters inside storybooks come alive at night. Some of those characters include Sherlock Holmes, Robin Hood, Dorothy Gale and Tom Sawyer.
McCardle said the play will be presented by students within the Academy’s third to sixth grade. The evening will also feature a special performance from preK, first and second grade students, she said.
“Our children and parents have worked very hard to make this a success and we are very proud of our students,” McCardle said.
A silent auction will also be held during the event, offering a variety of items including student-made art, pottery and canvas art. In all, there will be approximately 50 items or services up for bid.
Last year, the Academy raised approximately $10,000 at the first fundraiser and expect to raise more this year, McCardle said.
All proceeds from the event will be used toward the development of the arts program at the Academy, she said.
A bake sale will be held at the event and additional food items will also be available for purchase.
