A man that was being sought by the Pearl River County Sheriff’s Department for his alleged involvement in a car theft was arrested early Thursday morning in Hancock County.

Hancock County Sheriff’s Department Det. Johnny Allison said 19-year-old Jace Ladner was seen driving in the area and attempted to conduct a stop at 12:44 a.m. Thursday.

Instead of pulling over, Ladner attempted to elude capture by fleeing in the vehicle, but was stopped a short time later on Avenue B in Waveland where he was taken into custody.

Ladner is being held at the Hancock County Jail on a hold for the Pearl River County Sheriff’s Department.

According to previous coverage, Ladner was wanted for the theft of a 2001 Ford F-350, which was reported stolen on Monday from a home on Sones Chapel Road.

Ladner was identified as a potential suspect when he was captured on surveillance footage putting fuel in the stolen vehicle, previous coverage states.

The vehicle was recovered Tuesday in Hancock County when deputies saw it traveling on Highway 603. Three people were detained for questioning, but only 36-year-old Jason Warren Cagle was arrested for receiving stolen property, previous coverage states.
