The Senior Center of South Pearl River County is still seeking sponsorships for the annual Senior Olympics event.

Executive Director David Sykes said the event is set for Nov. 2 and 3, and he would like to secure at least 15 to 20 sponsors two weeks before the event so they can be recognized on T-shirts and banners. Sykes said sponsorships will be accepted up to the day of the events, but can’t guarantee late entries will be included on the shirts and banners. To become a sponsor contact Sykes at 601-798-9892

This will be the second year for the event, which will hopefully draw in more participation at the Center, Sykes said.

He urges participants to have their registration complete by Oct. 31, so staff will know exactly how many people will be in each event.

To register, stop by the Center, located at 45 El Patch Parkway in Picayune. Registration forms can also be found at the Cornerstone on West Canal Street or on the Center’s website at  http://www.prcseniorcenter.org/.

The Center is also preparing for an upcoming garage sale, which acts as one of several fundraising events. It’s set for Oct. 6 and will take place from 10 a.m. until.

Sykes said a lot of items have already been donated to the event, and more donations are welcome.

Later in October, on the 27th, the Center will host the Greater Picayune Area Chamber of Commerce’s Morning Call at 8 a.m.
