Investigators with the Pearl River County Sheriff’s Department are looking into the death of a 43-year-old woman.
Sheriff David Allison said the department received a call Monday at 11:40 a.m. that the body of a woman was found in a nearby pond off of Bennett Apartment Road. She was later identified as Jodi Wilson McClain of 15 Bennett Apartment Rd., said Pearl River County Coroner Derek Turange.
Allison said that he can’t say for sure at this time, but the circumstances of the case lead him to suspect her death was not due to drowning. Turnage said a cause of death won’t be established until an autopsy can be performed in Pearl at the Mississippi State Medical Examiner’s Office. Search warrants were secured for the homes in the area. No arrests were made by press time.
