Boil water notice: Some residents asked to take precautions for time being

Residents in certain areas of Jackson Landing Road are currently under a boil water notice.
Public Works Director Eric Morris said residents in the following areas are advised to boil water for at least a minute before consumption in the following areas; the homes along the southern end of Charlotte Drive, homes along Hickman Avenue from Charlotte Drive to Nina Drive, residents living along a portion of Victoria Drive and some residents along Jackson Landing Road.
Morris said the boil water notice is expected to stay in effect for at least 72 hours. Once water test efforts have come back with favorable results through lab work, the boil water notice will be lifted.
The cause of the boil water notice is due to two separate occurrences. In the Ponderosa area, including the streets of Charlotte, Hickman and Victoria, an aging line failed at a joint Tuesday evening, leading to a necessary repair.
The boil water notice for the residents along Jackson Landing Road is due to ongoing work under a Community Development Block Grant to conduct water main repairs across the city. Morris said the crews switched those customers over to a new water main Tuesday morning, leading to the boil water notice.
All customers currently have water service, the boil water notice is just a necessary precautionary measure, Morris said.
