Letter to the Editor: Picayune beautification efforts

Published 7:00 am Tuesday, June 13, 2017

Some citizens of north Picayune have been volunteering to improve the look of our city.  Lolita and Jim Howell as well as Mike Pind have spent many, many hours picking up trash along Cooper Road.  Not long after they cleaned the road of litter, however, it was full of trash again. It is a shame that people view the roadside as a dumping ground.

Please, take pride in our city!  Do not throw your garbage out of the window. Take it home and put it in your own garbage can.

While we are on the subject of beautifying our city, we would like to point out that there are numerous businesses along Highway 11 that need to clean up around their buildings.

We used to tell people how proud we are to be from Picayune, but the lack of pride people have shown by not taking care of our town makes me question that. City officials, do your job.
