In a couple of weeks, Pearl River County residents will have a chance to spend a romantic evening in Picayune tasting wine and fine foods.
The inaugural event, named A Taste to Remember, will be held at the Holiday Express in Picayune on Feb. 10, from 5 to 8 p.m.
Greater Picayune Area Chamber of Commerce Executive Director Nuria Arias said the event will be an opportunity for community members to taste food from various local restaurants prepared by their chefs.
Arias is still working on the lineup of chefs, but since Silver Slipper Casino is one of the sponsors, a chef from the restaurant will be on hand.
Tickets are on sale now, and cost $20 per person, or $35 for a couple. Staff at the Holiday Inn Express will offer special packages for rooms for the evening, which come with complimentary tickets to the event. General Manager Jessica Clabaugh said rooms will range from $99 to $129 as part of their special Valentine’s package promotion.
Chamber Board member Byron Hill suggests attendees arrive early to ensure they get a chance to taste all of the various culinary treats.
Wine will be served in tasting glasses during the event and a wine connoisseur will teach the attendees how to pair particular wines with certain foods, Silver Slipper Executive Administrative Assistant Kristen Black said. A special beer from the Silver Slipper, brewed by Kiln based brewery Southern Magnolia, will also be served. Black said the brew is a light ale.
Limited space is available, and tickets are currently available.
Other sponsors for the event include Holiday Inn Express and the Chamber of Commerce.
Attendees will also have an opportunity to participate in a 50/50 raffle.
Tickets can be purchased at the Chamber. Holiday Inn Express is located at 1001 Dauphin Street.
