The inmate that escaped over the weekend and stole a county vehicle has been captured in Rankin County.
Pearl River County Sheriff’s Department Chief Investigator Marc Ogden said 23-year-old Roger Aaron Dollar was found Wednesday night after receiving a tip from Central Mississippi Crime Stoppers.
Ogden said that tip alleged Dollar was at 166 Maple Street in Rankin County.
Officers with the Mississippi Department of Corrections and the Rankin County Sheriff’s Department went to that home Wednesday at 11:20 p.m. and took him into custody without incident, Ogden said.
Dollar is now being held at the Central Mississippi Correctional Facility in Rankin County, where he is being held for offenses of escape and grand larceny.
The hunt for Dollar began Sunday morning when Pearl River County jail staff discovered he escaped the night before, possibly by scaling the fence, according to previous coverage.
Dollar was being held at the local jail as a state inmate for a conviction of felony eluding out of Rankin County.
Monday morning county barn staff discovered that one of the county vehicles had been taken.
Investigation into the missing vehicle determined that Dollar had allegedly taken it shortly after escaping from the jail.
That vehicle was recovered in Rankin County on Bay Street in Jackson Tuesday.
Ogden said an investigation continues into individuals who may have assisted Dollar, and arrests will be made.
