Local theater benefits the community

thousand miles away from the glitz and glam of Broadway, two high school theater departments are joining forces to bring thought-provoking entertainment to Pearl River County.

Picayune Memorial High School and Pearl River Central High School are honoring a long-standing tradition of putting together a showcase of their most talented students.

The Night of One Acts, which brings the schools together for one night only, gives the community a chance to see how talented some of its young members are.

This year, both theater departments have chosen works that are sure to pull at the heartstrings, while bringing some Christmas cheer and jolly laughs.

Works chosen for this year’s performances have already made an impact on the students acting in them, and aim to have the same impact on the audience.

Each year, it is important for these groups to

come together and put on these performances because it not only allows the students to showcase their hard work, but it also provides the public with a night out for some quality entertainment.

As the Pearl River County School District begins the campaign to establish an auditorium of its own, next week’s performances are an opportunity for the department to exhibit the services it can provide to the community.

By having two separate auditoriums, both groups can put on more shows throughout the year, together and independently.

More shows means more experience for the students, more income for the schools, better quality productions and more entertainment for the community.
