Several suspects charged with drug offenses

Several suspects were arrested recently by the Picayune Police Department on various drug charges.
According to a report filed with the department, 28-year-old Bobby Aikens of 25000 Pinecrest Drive was arrested on April 12 after an officer conducted a routine stop on his vehicle.
The report states that on that afternoon an officer saw Aikens driving without a seatbelt, prompting the stop. During the stop, an open beer was seen in plain view, of which the passenger, 27-year-old Joshua Gregory Lumetta of 62466 Hickory Hill, Amite La., claimed ownership.
A search of the vehicle was conducted in light of the discovery, where the officer found methamphetamine. The report states that Aikens was charged with felony possession of a controlled substance and no seatbelt, while Lumetta was charged with open beer.
On April 21, an officer was sent to the area of North Monroe Avenue to check out a report of a suspicious person, the report states. Upon arrival, the officer found two men standing near the road, later identified as 23-year-old Raymond Robert Matthews of 2178 Palestine Road and 23-year-old Kelton Devon Jones of 806 Fourth Street. As the officer pulled up, Matthews began to walk away, causing the officer to request Matthews to stop. The report states that as Matthews was walking away the officer saw him throw something in the grass. After Matthews was detained, the baggy was recovered. The report states the baggy contained a white powdery substance believed to be cocaine. The officer then spoke with Jones. The report states that while speaking with Jones the officer detected the odor of marijuana coming from his person, leading to a search that found a bag of marijuana in his possession. Matthews was charged with felony possession of a controlled substance while Jones was charged with possession of marijuana.
In a separate case that occurred on April 24, officers were sent to a local car wash in response to a suspicious person. The report states that the officer found 33-year-old Lucia Pell of 8 Stanton Drive standing in an unsteady manner next to a vehicle. As the officer spoke with her Pell acted in a nervous manner. She was later determined to allegedly be under the influence of some sort of substance, the report states.
She was arrested for public drunk and during a search of her person the officer found a baggy containing a crystal like substance, leading her to additionally be charged with possession of a controlled substance, the report states.
