Go vote for our local shelter

Pet lovers all over Pearl River County, and even those who don’t have pets, should visit https://hillsshelterheroes.us.launchpad6.com/ and cast their vote for our local shelter.
A vote from you and all your friends could help our local animal shelter receive $10,000.
But there are only eight days left, and as you read this, time is ticking away. Friday afternoon our shelter was in fifth place, but only a couple of hours later the video fell to sixth place.
In order for the PRCSPCA to win, the video has to finish in at least fifth place.
What could our local shelter do with $10,000? Apparently, a lot. I learned that for several months out of the year, the facility operates at a loss, so that amount of money could certainly ensure the lights stay on. Also, there are several dog kennels rusting away, refrigerators in need of replacement and paint chipping on many of the walls.
The shelter provides temporary homes to hundreds of dogs and cats who are currently homeless. So even if you don’t have room in your home for a new dog or cat, you can visit the website and cast a vote once per day until April 10 when the contest ends.
But, if you do have some space and love to spare for a new member of the family, after casting your vote consider stopping by the shelter to pick out your family’s new cat or dog.
Not only does the shelter ensure your new pet will have all of the necessary shots, they also provide microchipping services. This service involves implanting a small chip under the pet’s skin that records data that can be used to return your pet to you should they wander off for any reason.
