A Lumberton man was arrested by the investigators with the Attorney General’s office earlier this month on a charge of child exploitation.
According to a release from the Mississippi Attorney General’s Office, 54-year-old Ronald Donovan of Lumberton was charged with one count of child exploitation by the Attorney General’s Cyber Crime Unit/Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force. Officers with the Picayune Police Department and the Pearl River County Sheriff’s Department assisted with the case and arrest. The release states that the joint investigation found evidence of Donovan allegedly “illegally trafficking child sexual abuse images.”
Donovan is being held in the Pearl River County jail on a $40,000 bond and could face up to 40 years in the custody of the Mississippi Department of Corrections if found guilty of the charge, the release states.
Prosecution of the case will be handled by Special Assistant Attorney General Brandon Ogburn who is with the Attorney General’s Cyber Crime Unit.
