Several roads within Pearl River County have been closed due to flooding caused by rainfall over the week.
Emergency Management Director Danny Manley said the river forecast center has stated the creek has crested in McNeill. The water is continuing to move down to Picayune. As it does Manley said he will have a better idea of the impact to residents in Picayune by later Saturday night or Sunday morning.
The following roads are now closed due to flooding, said Road Closure Section Chief Shawn Wise:
Newman Roa; Hilt Fornea; Old Camp Road off of Highway 43 North; John Amacker Road at the intersections of Sones Chapel Road, Highway 43 and Highway 26; Ezell Road; Grady Lewis Road; Ford’s Creek Road in multiple locations; Liberty Road; and Henleyfield McNeill Road has only one lane open at the Hobolochitto Creek.
Manley said so far about 12 homes have been flooded. No injuries or deaths have been reported.
