An Alabama man was found inside his vehicle along Interstate 59 near Millard.
Mississippi Bureau of Investigations Public Information Officer Warren Strain said their department was notified after a concerned motorist reported the vehicle at 10 a.m. Wednesday morning parked on the side of the Interstate 59 southbound on-ramp. A trooper was sent out to conduct a welfare check, finding 53-year-old James David Holman of Fosters, Alabama deceased in the vehicle, Strain said.
Investigators with the Mississippi Bureau of Investigations were sent out to process the scene and take samples, which were sent to the state crime lab as part of their routine procedure.
Strain said the investigators are looking into whether the deceased had been reported missing. A report from Alabama news agency ABC33/40 states that a man with the same name, James David Holman, was reported as last being seen on Saturday after leaving his home to head to work.
An autopsy has been conducted, but an official cause of death won’t be released until the crime lab has had time to process all of the evidence, Strain said.
When asked if Holman’s death was due to suicide or foul play, Strain said nothing has been ruled out at this point.
Next of kin have been notified.
