Since 2011, Matt and Marlana Barousse have been producing custom designs for local business owners and organizations at Barousse Designs in Picayune.
Matt Barousse is a graduate of graphic design school and Marlana Barousse has an accounting background.
“It was a good natural transition to begin sign production,” Marlana Barousse said. “Matt does the majority of the designs, but I do some as well. I picked that up from being around him.”
Their business first opened on Highway 11, but the Barousse family needed more space and, this month, moved to their new location in downtown Picayune.
“We wanted our office on the main road,” Marlana said. “This space became available and met our size needs.”
The majority of their work is performed in-house and they use local vendors when possible, Marlana Barousse said.
Customers can choose from a variety of options to market their business or organization including signs, banners, car graphics, screen printing, apparel, magnetic signs and wall art.
“We can design logos or use what the customer comes in with,” she said.
The majority of the Barousse business is derived from other small businesses and civic organizations, which is one of the main reasons the couple enjoy running their business in a small community.
“It’s been good having a small business in Picayune,” Marlana Barousse said. “In a small town, people are motivated to shop local and do business with other small businesses and that helps everybody.”
Barousse Designs is located at 209 W. Canal St. and are open Monday through Thursday from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. and on Friday by appointment only.
