A new year is officially underway. Many people may take this time to reflect on their lives, while considering a change, no matter how big or small.
For long time residents, you probably found a quiet time here Pearl River County during the New Year’s weekend.
That fact may have led many younger residents to drive to a major city to celebrate the coming of a new year. Or you may have been perfectly happy just to spend time with family and friends shooting off fireworks close to home.
It’s times like these where we can all sit back and reflect on just how good we have it here in Pearl River County.
Admittedly when people are in their late teens to early 20s they may feel as though there is nothing to do in this area.
The thing is, there are plenty of things to do in Pearl River County, if you know where to look.
They may not be the activities offered in the surrounding major cities, but having something safe to do close to home has its selling points.
Do you like kayaking? We have a perfectly good system of creeks here in Pearl River County, especially after a good rain.
Just don’t go out there when the creek is too high, since the fast moving water creates a very dangerous current.
Do you enjoy fishing? The previously mentioned creek, and of course the Pearl River, are great places to catch some fish.
Or, you could use the river to take a boat ride. I know several people who make a weekend out of leisurely boat rides.
Looking for something to do during a hot day with the kids? By summer both of our municipalities will offer splash pads.
The point is to not forget about the perfectly good lives we all have right here in Pearl River County.
