A minor accident Friday afternoon resulted in a van crashing through an insurance office.
The accident occurred just after noon Friday. At that time a white truck was traveling north on U.S. 11 when a southbound van attempted to turn onto Telly Road, said Billy Deal.
The truck struck the van, causing both to veer off the roadway. The van proceeded into the front of the office of P.J. Williamson, a State Farm insurance broker.
“They’re knocking our doors down to get insurance,” said office employee Carol Desselle.
Stacy Hathcox, who also works in the office, was on the phone with her husband when the accident occurred.
“All of a sudden I heard screeching and a bang,” Hathcox said. Then the van crashed through the front door, she said.
“I screamed, hung up on my husband and called 911,” Hathcox said.
The driver of the van was identified as 94-year-old Wuanita Talley of Carriere and the driver of the truck was identified as 62-year-old Louis Cadard III also of Carriere, said Picayune Police Department Assistant Chief Jeremy Magri. Cadard was issued a citation for no proof of insurance, and transported to Highland Community Hospital for treatment of minor injuries.
No one else reported injuries at the scene, Magri said.
