An accident that caused a bit of a traffic jam Monday morning fortunately did not involve any fatalities.
Louisiana State Police Troop L Public Information Officer Trooper Dustin Dwight said the accident occurred at about 6:45 a.m. when a Chevy S-10 driven by 36-year-old Lance Touchstone of Purvis left the roadway and impacted an abandoned Ford Explorer parked on the shoulder.
The vehicle came to rest upside down in the ditch on the right side if the roadway.
Dwight said Touchstone was ejected from the vehicle during the accident, receiving minor to moderate injuries.
Touchstone was transported to Lakeview Regional Medical Center in Mandeville, and it’s possible he may have to be transported to another facility.
Drugs or alcohol are not suspected to be contributing factors in the accident, but Dwight said witnesses reported that Touchstone was distracted at the time of the accident.
No other vehicles or people were involved in the accident.
