One Picayune woman’s dream of opening a boutique that offered chic clothing for women of all shapes and sizes became a reality when Bre’s Clothing and Accessories opened in March.
Owner Ashley Breland said she was tired of hunting for clothes in her size and having to travel out of town in order to do so.
“Even then I couldn’t find clothing,” Breland said, “It’s always been my dream to open a store locally and offer cute and quality clothes to customers of all sizes.”
Her store stocks women sizes up to 3x.
Breland said she started stocking men’s clothes when her husband, Drew, wanted to know where he was going to get his clothes.
“We added a men’s line with sizes up to 2x,” Breland said. “Once we added the men’s line, customers requested that we carry children’s clothes, so we did.”
The majority of stock in Bre’s comes from about 15 Mississippi vendors, Breland said.
Coastal Cotton, Fraternity Collection, Judith March, Missy Robertson, Scuba Steve, Properly Tied and Rip-a-Lip are some of the clothing brands offered.
Bre’s also sells jewelry by String Theory, Earth Grace, Kenzie Grace, Love AO and Flirt.
Customers looking for a something to freshen up their home can pick up a candle by Purvis Jewelry and So Delta.
Bre’s also carries bath products by Musee and Connie’s Creation.
Breland stocks a variety of shoes, including Soda brand and Rainbow flip-flops.
The city welcomed her with open arms and there has been great response to her store, Breland said.
“It’s really not a job, it’s fun, ”Breland said. “I look forward to coming to work every day and seeing our customers.”
Breland is willing to go above and beyond for her customers.
Patrons will send her a text and she will pull outfits for them to try on at their convenience.
It’s a family affair at Bre’s.
Breland’s husband Drew, daughter Kayla and sons Cody and Ryan staff the business.
Kayla Breland said she likes working in her mom’s store because she loves the people, the clothes and the town.
“I’m just very grateful and blessed to be here and working in the store,” Kayla said.
Sandra Griffith, a Picayune native, was visiting from Knoxville, Tenn. last week and stopped into Bre’s for the first time.
“I drove by, saw the store and had to stop in,” Griffith said. “I like it here, they have a lot of unique items and cater to a younger crowd.”
Tonia Drury heard about Bre’s from her hairdresser.
“I think we should have more boutique shops like this one here, it would be real nice,” Drury said.
Bre’s Clothing and Accessories is located at 115 North Main St.
The shop is open from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Monday through Friday and 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Saturday and is closed on Sundays.
