Reports of a woman sleeping in her car outside of a local business led Pearl River County Sheriff’s Department deputies to the discovery of illegal possession of prescription medication.

Sheriff David Allison said the department responded to a complaint on May 21, that stated a woman appeared to be passed out in her vehicle in front of a business on West Union Road.

Deputies responded to the scene to find 24-year-old Brittany Adams of 19 Railroad St., Carriere, asleep in her car, Allison said. When the officers attempted to speak with her she appeared impaired, leading deputies to investigate further, the sheriff said.

In that investigation and subsequent search of her person and vehicle, the deputies found eight and a half two milligram dosage and three one milligram dosage alprazolam pills in a prescription bottle with no label, Allison said.

The investigation showed Adams received the pills from an unknown individual who advised her to give them to another unknown third party, Allison said.

Adams was charged with conspiracy to transfer a controlled substance, Allison said.

Investigators are still working to determine who she received the pills from and who she was instructed to give them to, Allison said.
