Spring time

Springtime and the warmer weather associated with the season is now upon us.
In this comfortable climate many people will be looking forward to cleaning up their homes, yards, vehicles or whatever else has collected grime and dust over the winter.
Others might be getting boats, four wheelers or motorcycles ready for comfortable spring riding. There is nothing better than cruising down the river, road or dirt trail with the cool wind in your face.
I am looking forward to getting my own recreational vehicle running again. It has sat idle for too long, collecting dust.
Spring is also a time for those who welcome lower electricity bills. Perfect weather precludes the need to run the heater or air conditioning. Instead, you can just open the windows and not only let the breeze in, but listen to the sounds of mother nature while you get some of that spring cleaning accomplished.
Picnics and walks along nature trails are also nice activities while the weather is nice. There are fewer mosquitos to contend with during this season. Even though the Crosby Arboretum is close by, I have been interested in touring Possum Walk next to the INFINITY Science Center since it opened. An interesting aspect of Possum Walk is that you are allowed to ride a bicycle along the trail. If you don’t have bicycle you can rent one from INFINITY.
I have taken bike rides from Metairie to the French Quarter in New Orleans before. However, I have enjoyed rides along nature trails just as much, if not more. Possum Walk is a three-mile segment of what will be a much longer Heritage Trail, and offers a launch for kayaks.
Whatever activity you choose to participate in, enjoy the great weather now. Summertime is just around the corner.
