Random acts of kindness

I am grateful to live in a community where people offer help to those who need it.

Take for instance a recent incident which, of course, occurs on a Monday. I am driving along near Wal-Mart when my car decides to die in traffic. Unable get the vehicle in gear and proceed through the intersection, I am now holding up traffic. The other motorists lined up behind me are surely aggravated at my inability to get out of their way. But no matter what I try, the clutch will not engage. Instead it flops to the floorboard, devoid of pressure.

What do I do now? I certainly can’t just sit there. Well luckily there was not much traffic coming through the intersection, so I quickly exit my car and begin to push it to a nearby parking lot to get it out of the way.

Fortunately, I was able to get my car through the intersection without much trouble, but here comes my next hurdle. The nearest parking lot has a slight incline. Unable to push the vehicle up the hill all by myself, I stop pushing and take a break. Just then a man walks up who was kind enough to offer assistance upon seeing my trouble. He asked “do you need a hand?”

Yes! I did, and gladly accepted his assistance. We team up and push the vehicle up the incline and into a spot that has my disabled vehicle in a place that is safely out of the way.

Again thank you good samaritan who offered assistance when it was definitely needed. I intend to pay the kindness forward next time I see a person in need of help.
