Even though it was once acceptable to treat women differently because of their gender, it is a foreign concept in today’s world.

This quote not only applies to Women’s History month, it holds special significance in our day and time.

Throughout history, strong women have shaped the world. Virtually every field of endeavor has benefited from their contributions.

By recognizing women and their accomplishments, it provides, both young and old, with the inspiration to achieve greatness. It shows us that we should resist the urge to be comfortable with what we have already achieved, and instead strive for more.

As this month progresses, don’t forget to honor the great women who have made so many contributions to all facets of life.

Humans are imperfect. We are prone to fear and fear tends to breed discrimination; but, because of our ability to communicate and share ideas, we have overcome many of the prejudices that were acceptable in the past. Through communication, ideals of equality were shared, shaping the more enlightened society we live in today.

While, on many fronts, there are still miles to travel before true equality, history begs us to realize that with an open mind, kind heart, and a little bit of effort, humanity is capable of accomplishing great things.
