A community complaint of alleged drug activity led to the arrest of several suspects by the Picayune Police Department in two unrelated cases.
The case began as a complaint of what appeared to be an alleged hand to hand drug transaction taking place in the parking lot of a local restaurant on April 16.
Detectives received the call just before noon that day and responded to the area in question, according to reports filed with the Picayune Police Department.
They arrived to find two vehicles parked next to each other, one belonged to 55-year-old Gregory Cook of 107 Jasmine Lane, the other belonged to 57-year-old Dennis Ray Smith of 83 Bass Road, Carriere.
The report states that while speaking with Cook, dispatch advised the officer that a third person, identified as 27-year-old Lindsey Ann Wilson of 83 Bass Road Apt. 2, Carriere, had walked into the business before the officer arrived, and had a warrant out for her arrest for conspiracy to sell a controlled substance within 1,500 feet of a school or church.
At about that time, Wilson approached the scene and a search of her belongings found a syringe in her purse, the report states.
Continued investigation into the incident showed that Smith allegedly purchased oxycodone from Cook, leading to a search of the vehicles, the report states.
In that search, the officer found oxycodone and xanax pills, along with a syringe and a scale, the report states.
Cook’s vehicle and about $500 in cash was seized and about $500 was seized from Smith.
Cook was charged with felony possession of a controlled substance with intent to distribute and possession of paraphernalia.
Smith was charged with felony possession of a controlled substance.
The investigation showed that Wilson was an active participant in the alleged drug sale, leading her to be charged with conspiracy to commit a crime in addition to the outstanding warrant, said Assistant Chief of Police Jeremy Magri.
