A man is now in jail after allegations were lodged by a female victim that he had sexually assaulted her in her sleep.

According to police reports, officers were sent to the victim’s home on March 21, after she awoke to find her underwear had been removed and she noticed a white liquid on her sheets and in her groin. The victim also noted a soreness as though she had had sex, the report states.

She told officers that after she awoke she went to use the bathroom. While in the bathroom a man identified as Philon Rasean McKinsie, entered the bathroom, prompting her to strongly ask him to leave, the report states.

Investigation into the case determined that the victim had gone to bed that night after taking some sleeping medication, the report states. Sometime after she went to bed McKinsie, who is known by the victim and her roommate, came to the home and asked to “hang out”. The roommate let him in and later went to bed, leaving McKinsie in the home, police reports state.

It’s alleged that after she went to bed McKinsie assaulted the victim sexually, the report states.

The victim underwent an examination at the hospital and signed charges against McKinsie, 32, of 603 Charlotte Drive, who was arrested on that charge Thursday at 12:33 a.m.

Picayune Police Department Assistant Chief Jeremy Magri said McKinsie is currently being held at the Criminal Justice Center on the charge of rape. A bond will be set once McKinsie goes before the municipal court judge, Magri said.
