Residents can take a spa day at Bella Skin Care and Spa, which offers a variety of beauty treatments for skin rejuvenation.

Bella Skin owner Raquel Theriot said her passion for skincare began with her own skin.

“I always had an interest in my own skincare so I went to school to become a licensed esthetician and fell in love with it,” Theriot said. “I love providing skincare treatments and tips to other women.”

In January, Theriot expanded her business and opened her own shop, which is located at 222 West Canal Street.

Previously, her skincare business shared a space with Dalinda’s Hair Salon.

“I started my business off there because I wanted to get a slow start and get clients,” she said. “But then my business started growing quickly, and it would get too crowded when I would throw facial parties, so I needed to move to a bigger area.”

Since the relocation, Theriot said her business has grown.

“I’m not sure if it’s the location of my new shop, but I’m just happy to show women how to take care of their skin because many of them don’t know how,” she said.

While Theriot said she treats women of every age group, she caters to the younger generation.

“If teenagers come in here, they can get a head start and learn good skin care,” she said. “There’s a facial called the southern bella, which is made for a teenager’s skin.”

Bella Skin offers a variety of other beauty services, including signature facials like the 45-minute Maui peel or the 45-minute relaxation facial. Theriot said she also offers

microdermabrasion, which treats fine lines and wrinkles, spray tanning, waxing and body scrubs.

“I make my own bath salts and body scrubs here too,” Theriot said.

The grand opening of Bella Skin will be held at the West Canal location on Thursday, March 12 from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m.

“We’ll be giving a tour of the facility. We’re also giving away free skincare products, door prizes and there will be food and drinks,” she said.

In the future, Theriot plans to expand her current shop.

“Right now it’s only me, but my goal is to expand and eventually have a second room with another esthetician,” she said.

Bella Skin is open Tuesday through Thursday from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. by appointment only. However, Theriot said she works with her clients’ schedules if they aren’t available during her regular business hours.
