During the holidays, as you are traveling towards Sones Chapel Road off of Mississippi Highway 11, you are bound to spot Turks Discount Fireworks off to the left.

Hard at work behind the counter is a bright, young Mississippi State engineering student named Terrance Freeman.

Freeman, a family friend of the stand owners, is in his fourth year of working at the stand during school breaks. He says that he loves to work with people, especially kids.

“I’ve been helping here since I was 14,” he says. “I enjoy the fast pace of the night shift and educating the parents on good matches for their kids. The kids get real excited when they are choosing what to purchase.”

Usually, Freeman will recommend the Bucket of Fun, because it has something for everyone.
