Funeral Services for Jerome D. Cumberland, 59, of Picayune, Miss., who passed away Sunday, December 29, 2013, will be held Tuesday, December 31, 2013, at 10 a.m. at New Palestine Baptist Church.

Visitation will be Monday, December 30, 2013, from 6-10 p.m. at McDonald Funeral Home.

Burial will be in New Palestine Cemetery under the direction of McDonald Funeral Home.

Rev. Josh Braddy, Dr. Reggie Bridges, and Rev. Scott Cappleman will officiate the service.

A native of Greenville, Mr. C. was a longtime Band Director, a Minister of Music at several churches and a member of New Palestine Baptist Church. During his career he was named Band Director of the Year and inducted into the Hall of Fame by the Mississippi Gulf Coast Band Directors’ Association. He was chosen for membership in Phi Beta Mu, the National Honorary Band Directors’ Fraternity.

He was preceded in death by his parents, D.H. Cumberland and Mallie Willis Cumberland; his three brothers, Ted McMillan, Henry McMillan, and Darth Cumberland.

Survivors include his loving wife of 26 wonderful years, Lauren Miano Cumberland; his beloved daughter, Mallory Jane Cumberland; his two brothers, Robert Cumberland and wife Maria and Glynn Cumberland and wife Margie; his two sisters, Mazell Hall and Barbara Thrash and husband Leonard; numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.
